[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] In Ukraine, which is engaged in conflict with Russia, it has been reported that 801 civilians have been killed or injured within a month due to consecutive missile attacks and other impacts.

On the 6th (local time), the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) released a recent report stating, "Since there are still many areas where it is difficult to receive casualty information, the actual number of casualties may be much higher than the identified figures." It further explained, "Most civilian casualties were caused by widespread explosive weapons such as shelling, multiple launch rocket systems, and missile attacks."

According to the report, during the month of December last year, a total of 801 civilian casualties occurred in Ukraine, including 188 deaths and 613 injuries. Among them, 748 were killed or injured due to explosive weapons such as missiles.

Of the casualties, 688 (85.9%) were civilians living in areas under the jurisdiction of the Ukrainian government. 113 (14.1%) were civilians in Russian-occupied territories such as Luhansk and Donetsk.

The report states that from the start of the Ukraine war on February 24 last year until January 2 this year, the total number of civilian casualties in Ukraine reached 17,994, including 6,919 deaths and 11,075 injuries. Among the deceased were 391 children.
