[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gimhae City, Gyeongnam Province, operated a special health examination bus for the promotion of health and welfare of female farmers for two days starting from the 21st.

On the first day, the examination bus was stationed at Naewae-dong Administrative Welfare Center, and on the following day at Jangyu Library, conducting tests for conditions that may arise from farm work such as ▲pesticide poisoning ▲musculoskeletal disorders ▲fracture risk ▲cardiovascular diseases ▲lung diseases.

The program included early diagnosis of diseases, follow-up care, education for prevention, and consultations with specialists, with 90% of the examination costs supported by national funds.

According to the city, the special health examination pilot project for female farmers aged 51 to 70 was implemented for the first time this year.

Eleven cities and counties nationwide, including Gimhae, participated, and in Gyeongnam Province, Gimhae City and Haman County jointly applied and were finally selected.

Joeun Geumgang Hospital and Samsung Changwon Hospital participated, and about 380 female farmers received examinations.

Through this examination, about 120 people, and a total of about 500 female farmers this year, have benefited from the health checkups.

Lee Byung-gwan, director of the Agricultural Technology Center of the city, said, “The special health examination, which is not included in the general national health checkup, will be very helpful in preventing occupational diseases among female farmers,” and added, “We will continue to strive to improve the health welfare and quality of life of local farmers.”
