Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation Transitions to Digital Services Including National Mobile ID Project
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Dongwoon Anatech announced on the 2nd that it has signed a business agreement with Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO) to discover new business opportunities related to the ICT sector and digital identification cards.
Ban Jang-sik, President of KOMSCO, visited Dongwoon Anatech's headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and met with Kim Dong-chul, CEO of Dongwoon Anatech, to sign the agreement.
Dongwoon Anatech plans to develop into a digital innovation company by providing various IT solutions, including system semiconductor technology and biometric authentication solutions, to overseas companies with support from KOMSCO. Sales related to digital ID cards are expected to begin from next year.
KOMSCO, celebrating its 70th anniversary, announced a new vision as the "National Trust Platform Partner in the Hyperconnected Era." It is expanding investments and infrastructure in the ICT sector. Ban Jang-sik, President of KOMSCO, stated at the agreement with Dongwoon Anatech, "With the added expertise of a private IT technology specialist company, we will take the lead in the digital platform transition to enhance public convenience."
Founded in 2006, Dongwoon Anatech is a semiconductor specialized fabless company. It has secured world-class technology in the field of autofocus (AF) driving chips (IC). It produces and distributes hundreds of millions of AF driving chips annually. The fingerprint recognition card field, in which they cooperate, is necessary for verifying the user's identity and information before using various services.
