Proposal of Smart Factory Guidelines for Small and Medium Enterprises and Introduction of Related Solutions
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Pyeonghwa] LS Electric will participate in the '2022 Smart Manufacturing Innovation Expo (SMIE)' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, held from the 5th to the 7th of this month at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul. The company aims to showcase a win-win smart factory model for large and small-to-medium enterprises that improves manufacturing processes at a reasonable price while enabling efficient equipment management.
LS Electric has set up an exhibition space of 72㎡ across 8 booths under the theme of 'Smart Factory Partner,' consisting of two themes: 'Tech Square' and 'Smart Factory.' Here, they plan to propose guidelines for smart factories tailored to small businesses and introduce related solutions.
Tech Square is a platform that supports customers' smart factory construction through expert mentoring and optimal partner matching services. LS Electric has established a fund of approximately 10 billion KRW to support the construction of win-win smart factories for small and medium-sized enterprises through Tech Square. In the Tech Square theme, they will introduce know-how on smart factory construction and cases of big data application.
In the Smart Factory theme, they will showcase the Smart Workbench designed for small manufacturers specializing in small-lot, multi-product production. The Smart Workbench provides digital work instructions and is a component fastening solution that minimizes defects caused by operator errors. Additionally, various solutions such as next-generation Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), AC drives, and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) will be exhibited.
Kwon Bonghyun, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of LS Electric's Automation Company-In-Company (CIC), stated, “The competitiveness of future factories will be determined by the level of advancement in automated data-based decision-making systems, regardless of scale.” He added, “As a leading smart factory company, we will prepare various win-win programs to help small businesses reduce the gap with large corporations through technology dissemination and establish themselves as strong global companies.”
