Conflict Deepens Between Gwangju City Council and Public Officials' Union Over Administrative Audit

Council: "Administrative head, Deputy Mayor, incites conflict through media"

Official report requested from Mayor Kang Kijeong on 'full investigation and follow-up action plan'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Recently, conflicts between the Gwangju Metropolitan City Council and the Public Officials Union have been intensifying over the '2038 Summer Asian Games Joint Hosting Inadequate Service' during the administrative audit of Gwangju Metropolitan City.

According to the Gwangju City Council on the 17th, the council held an emergency meeting with the chairperson group and standing committee chairpersons and officially requested a response from Mayor Kang Gijeong.

The council believes that in the conflict arising from differences in perception related to this administrative audit, Deputy Mayor for Administration Moon Younghoon, who is responsible for administration, instigated the conflict.

Council members pointed out, "According to media reports, Deputy Mayor Moon disclosed posts from an anonymous bulletin board to some reporters and turned it into an issue," adding, "It is highly inappropriate for an administrative official in a responsible position to not mediate the conflict but rather to incite it." They further requested Mayor Kang to "investigate the details of Deputy Mayor Moon’s disclosure of the posts to the media, report the plan for measures regarding this act, and officially report the follow-up plans after the administrative audit to the council."
