Visiting the National Assembly and Central Ministries for Preliminary Response to Government Budget Deliberation
[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced that from the 11th to the 13th, they visited the National Assembly and central government ministries to make every effort to secure the 2023 national treasury budget.
This visit was an opportunity to provide preliminary explanations so that local pending projects could be reflected in the 2023 government budget proposal.
They also requested active cooperation in reflecting project costs through meetings with public officials from central government ministries who are from the same hometown.
Governor Lee Sang-cheol of Gokseong-gun and related officials met with local district lawmakers Seo Dong-yong, Kim Jong-min, Kang Hoon-sik, Kwon Myung-ho, Kim Won-i, and Lee So-young, asking them to speak with one voice for regional development.
They visited the offices of Kim Young-jin, the secretary of the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee, as well as those of Yoon Gun-young and Jeon Yong-gi, emphasizing the necessity of pending projects in the sewage sector and actively requested national treasury support.
The main projects proposed that day included ▲ Jukgok Public Sewage Treatment Plant and Sewage Pipeline Installation Project (total project cost 13.6 billion KRW) ▲ Public Sewage Treatment Plant Installation Project for preemptive response to government budget review by visiting the National Assembly and central ministries (total project cost 15.8 billion KRW) ▲ Chim-gok and Guseong District Rural Village Sewage Maintenance Project (total project cost 8.9 billion KRW).
During meetings with Lee Gae-ho and Lee Byung-hoon of the National Assembly Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, and Hwang Bo-seung-hee, a People Power Party lawmaker from Honam accompanying Gokseong-gun, they proposed the inclusion of the Gokseong Cheontaeam Geungnakbojeon Construction Project.
Cheontaeam is designated as Jeollanam-do Traditional Temple No. 97 and is known to have been founded about 1,400 years ago.
Gokseong-gun emphasized that the construction of Geungnakbojeon is absolutely necessary for preserving local cultural heritage and revitalizing tourism resources, as many visitors come to the area.
Additionally, they met with Woo Won-sik, chairman of the National Assembly Budget and Accounts Special Committee, Park Chan-dae, and Lee Soo-jin, explaining the region’s poor financial situation and requesting full support and cooperation.
Subsequently, a meeting with public officials from central ministries who are from the same hometown was held in Sejong City to explain local pending projects and ask for continuous interest in hometown development.
Governor Lee Sang-cheol of Gokseong-gun said, “Securing the national treasury budget is truly important to make Gokseong a happier place for residents, which is the goal of our county administration. Bold support at the National Assembly and central government level is necessary to solve population decline and the crisis in rural areas.”
