[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Large supermarkets are launching various food discount events, including fruits, meat, and ready-to-eat meals, to celebrate the Hangul Day holiday.

According to the industry on the 8th, Emart will hold a "Family Food Festival" until the 12th. In this event, Naju pears picked after Chuseok, 4 to 7 pieces, are sold for 7,980 won, and 3kg of wild grapes are offered with an 8,000 won discount when Shinsegae points are accumulated. All imported pork belly and neck cuts, as well as fresh autumn shrimp, are offered at a 20% discount. Premium sushi such as Sushi Black's 5 types, Today’s Vegan Tofu Noodle Salad, Sesame Chicken Salad, and Soy Bulgogi Salad Wrap are also sold at a 20% discount with Shinsegae points accumulation.

Lotte Mart offers domestic chilled pork spare ribs (100g) at 1,980 won until the 9th, and runs a 1+1 event for Harim whole chicken breast nuggets until the 10th. Until the 12th, Australian grain-fed chuck eye roll and front leg meat, as well as Marble Nine Korean beef soup cuts and bulgogi, are sold at a 30% discount to L Point members. In the seafood fair held with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, various seafood products are offered at a 20% discount when paying with event cards.

Homeplus sells Australian Ozzy ribeye sirloin at 3,490 won, a 50% discount, to My Homeplus membership members until the 12th. Ribeye refers to a cut that includes both the prime rib and the lower sirloin, and it is the best part to enjoy the unique umami flavor of beef with dense marbling and rich juice. Homeplus secured 22 tons of supply in advance in cooperation with Meat & Livestock Australia and the Australian Embassy, and lowered prices by applying a 0% tariff quota.

A Homeplus official said, "This event was prepared so that customers can worry less about their wallets amid rising prices and a high exchange rate trend," adding, "We planned a limited-time 50% discount promotion so that households can enjoy the Australian clean beef original ribeye sirloin steak, personally recommended by Catherine Raper, Australian Ambassador to Korea, at an affordable price."
