[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province is launching a 4th Industrial Revolution Special City Promotion Team.
Seongnam City announced on the 6th that it will form a 4th Industrial Revolution Special City Promotion Team on the 17th, consisting of a total of 70 members, including 40 private advisory members such as professors and entrepreneurs, and 30 support members such as public officials, under the leadership of Mayor Shin Sang-jin. This team will operate as a public-private-industry-academia-research collaborative system.
The advisory group includes experts in five fields: system semiconductors, bio-health, future mobility, spatial digital content, and industrial advancement. The advisory group will establish a '5-year comprehensive plan (2023?2027)' for Seongnam City to lead the global 4th Industrial Revolution and provide policy advice accordingly.
In particular, they will newly discover future strategic tasks and policy projects related to new growth engine industries to respond to the hyper-connected and hyper-intelligent 4th Industrial Revolution.
Additionally, they will prepare strategic plans linked to city administration utilizing Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5th Generation Mobile Communication (5G), and Big Data.
The main policy research topics of the advisory group include ▲creating a specialized ecosystem for game and content culture ▲activating autonomous driving industries such as AI-based autonomous vehicles, drones, Urban Air Mobility (UAM), and robots ▲establishing an advanced bio-health cluster ▲establishing a system semiconductor cluster ▲creating a 500 billion KRW scale Pangyo Unicorn Fund (by 2026) ▲building smart city infrastructure and digital transformation foundations ▲constructing digital twins and metacity.
Mayor Shin Sang-jin of Seongnam said, "We will transform Seongnam into a special city of the 4th Industrial Revolution and lead future urban administration as a smart city," adding, "The 4th Industrial Revolution Special City Promotion Team will fulfill its role to provide innovative public services in fields such as industry, city, cultural tourism, education, and administration."
