[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] On the 28th, Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, held a policy meeting with members of the National Assembly from the Incheon area and requested their cooperation to resolve local issues and secure national funding.


The meeting held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building was attended by Kim Gyo-heung, Chairman of the Democratic Party's Incheon City Party, Jeong Seung-yeon, Chairman of the People Power Party's Incheon City Party, and 10 ruling and opposition lawmakers from the Incheon area.


At the meeting, Mayor Yoo explained the plan to reorganize the current administrative system from 2 counties and 8 districts to 2 counties and 9 districts, and requested cooperation for the successful promotion of key campaign projects of the 8th elected term, such as 'Jemulpo Renaissance' and 'New Hong Kong City.'


He also actively requested support for projects that require additional funding during the National Assembly budget review process because they were not sufficiently reflected in the government budget proposal among major national projects of Incheon City.


The projects requiring national funding include ▲purchase of Camp Market park and road sites (64.2 billion KRW) ▲local love gift certificates (72 billion KRW) ▲construction of access roads to Songdo 9th district Aam Logistics Complex (10.5 billion KRW) ▲establishment of a commercialization support center for bio-pharmaceutical raw materials (6.5 billion KRW) ▲construction of a metropolitan infectious disease specialized hospital (2.3 billion KRW), totaling 13 projects amounting to 286.7 billion KRW.


Along with these, support was also requested for projects currently undergoing preliminary procedures such as ▲hydrogen production cluster construction (preliminary feasibility study passed) ▲Baengnyeong Airport construction (preliminary feasibility study passed) ▲2nd Gyeongin Line metropolitan railway construction (preliminary feasibility study passed) ▲construction of underground road from Gongdan Overpass to Seo Incheon IC (preliminary feasibility study passed) ▲extension of Incheon Line 2 to Goyang (selected for preliminary feasibility study) ▲Bupyeong Coastal Pier Line (selected for preliminary feasibility study).


Mayor Yoo said, "I ask the ruling and opposition parties to unite as 'one team' for the 3 million citizens of Incheon," and added, "I request your great interest and cooperation so that Incheon can leap forward as a world-class city."
