Senior Lawmakers Did Not Register as Candidates

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The next floor leader election of the People Power Party will be a contest between two-term lawmaker Yongho Lee and five-term lawmaker Ho-young Joo.
The People Power Party's Floor Leader and National Assembly Steering Committee Candidate Selection Management Committee announced this after closing candidate registration at 5 p.m. on the 17th.
Lee, who was the first to declare his candidacy, was assigned number 1, and Joo, who declared his candidacy on the same day, was assigned number 2.

None of the senior lawmakers who were reportedly considering running registered as candidates. Park Dae-chul, who was mentioned as a potential candidate, posted on his Facebook on the day, saying, "I will step down this time," and added, "I could not meet the persistent demand to inject dynamism of change."
The People Power Party will hold a party meeting starting at 10 a.m. on the 19th, where these candidates will present their platforms, and the floor leader will be elected by the votes of the lawmakers.
