[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A variety of autumn cultural events, including the National Singing Contest and Good Morning Yangnim, will be held abundantly in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, until mid-November.
According to Nam-gu on the 16th, the 2nd Seonggeosa Site Five-story Stone Pagoda Tea Ceremony and Peace Prayer Grand Ritual will take place on the 21st from 6:30 PM within the precincts of the Seonggeosa Site Five-story Stone Pagoda in Gwangju Park.
Organized by the Gwangju Buddhist Council, this event was prepared to awaken the significance of the Seonggeosa Site Five-story Stone Pagoda, which has shared a long history of over 1,000 years in Gwangju, and to pray for the development of Gwangju and the peace of local residents.
The Seonggeosa Site Five-story Stone Pagoda is an early Goryeo period stone pagoda. Gwangju Park is said to be named Seonggeosan (聖居山) because the shape of the mountain resembles a turtle.
On the 24th, the eco-friendly festival, the 2nd Nodae Eco Festival, will be held.
It will take place from 10 AM to 9 PM around Bunjuksan The Green Nuri-gil and Nodae Lake Park, featuring various experiential programs and performances such as the Bunjuksan Children's Drawing Contest, Bunjuksan Trekking, Forest Yoga Classes and Busking, Treasure Hunt, and Blue Forest Water Light Concert, all awaiting the footsteps of residents.
In October, a stage where all local residents unite through singing will be prepared.
Since the opening of Nam-gu Office in 1995, the main stage event of the National Singing Contest will be held here on October 18th from 2 PM, coinciding with the completion of Jinwol Complex Sports Ground, the first facility being constructed in the district.
The preliminary round of the National Singing Contest will be held on the 16th from 1 PM at the Nam-gu Cultural Center.
The 11th Good Morning Yangnim, an autumn humanities festival, will open from October 15th to 30th throughout the Yangnim-dong area.
Visitors can enjoy diverse programs such as exhibitions including works by Yangnim-dong painters and archive exhibitions, performance stages including the Willow Forest Music Concert, and humanities talks featuring poet Kwak Jae-gu, author of "At Sapyeong Station," and tenor Choi Seung-won, the first Asian winner in the tenor category of the Metropolitan Competition.
Additionally, in November, the 39th Gossaum Nori Festival will mark the finale of late autumn. Although the festival has been held annually at the Chilseok-dong Gossaum Nori Theme Park area in early year, this year, due to the impact of COVID-19, the Gossaum Nori can be seen in the late autumn season.
The 40th Gossaum Nori Festival is scheduled to be held next year during the Jeongwol Daeboreum (the first full moon of the lunar new year).
A Nam-gu official stated, “We hope you enjoy the deepening scent of autumn through the diverse cultural events held in the district.”
