Seoul Business Agency, Thingsflow, and Bambunetwork Host 'Interactive Story' Contest

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Business Agency (SBA), a support organization for small and medium enterprises that builds the competitiveness of Seoul's cultural content industry, announced on the 8th that it will jointly host the "1st Interactive Story Contest" with Thingsflow and Bambunetwork.

This contest, held for the first time this year, was organized to discover interactive stories that can be expanded into various content such as games and web dramas, starting from novels.

The contest categories include a total of five genres: Romance, Romance Fantasy, Historical Drama, Fantasy, and Mystery & Escape. Completed works with more than three choices per episode, over 2,500 characters, and at least five episodes with more than three final endings will be eligible for judging. Participants can enter the contest by creating their works using the SPL Studio. Anyone aged 15 or older who dreams of becoming an interactive story writer can apply, regardless of whether they are newcomers or established authors.

The submission period is from the 8th to October 31st. Submitted works will be 공개 to SPL users and, after evaluation by internal and external experts, winners will be announced in December. For each genre, one grand prize, one excellence award, and two encouragement awards will be selected, totaling 20 works to be awarded.

Thingsflow’s "SPL: Choice-based Story," launched in May last year, is a chat-type interactive story service where users become the protagonist and create the story themselves. The widely popular "SPL" content, "16 MBTI Blind Dates," which surpassed 15 million cumulative views, is a representative example. Thanks to the success of this content, "SPL" achieved the number one ranking in the Apple App Store game category.

Jeon Dae-hyun, Head of the Content Division at the Seoul Business Agency, said, “We hope that many creators with fresh story ideas will show interest and participate in this contest, which aims to discover interactive stories that can be expanded into various IPs, beyond the typical formats of web novels and webtoons.”
