[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, and the Yeongyang-gun Federation of Agricultural Entrepreneurs are conducting promotional campaigns and quality control as preliminary preparations for the successful implementation of this year’s Yeongyang Chili H.O.T Festival.
The Yeongyang Chili H.O.T Festival promotional campaign has been held annually by the Yeongyang-gun Federation of Agricultural Entrepreneurs to pre-promote the excellence of Yeongyang chili, which boasts the best quality and reputation nationwide, to urban residents in order to further enhance the prestige of the Hot Festival event.
The promotion, conducted about twice before the Hot Festival event, held its first round on the 20th in the Songpa-gu area of Seoul, and the second round is scheduled for the 27th before the event.
The effect of the pre-promotion publicity serves as a catalyst to attract urban consumers to the event venue during the festival period. The Yeongyang-gun Federation of Agricultural Entrepreneurs is making great efforts together with Yeongyang-gun to brand Yeongyang chili as a premium product through thorough quality control before and after the event to sell high-quality chili to urban residents.
The dried chili quality control training was conducted for the 56 farms and booth operators finally selected for this event. It actively raised the event’s prestige by thoroughly restricting the entry of uninspected items into the venue through overall condition checks of dried chili before and after packaging, confirmation of compliance with drying principles, guidance on prohibition of selling defective products, preparation of quality control certificates, and attachment of sales confirmation stickers.
Jo Hogi, president of the Yeongyang-gun Federation, said, “The Yeongyang chili promotional campaign has been conducted annually targeting Seoul citizens before the Hot Festival event, and we have made great efforts to enhance the quality of the Yeongyang Chili Hot Festival event through strict selection and thorough quality control. We will continue to actively keep pace to overcome the difficulties of agriculture in Yeongyang-gun and to promote agricultural policy development.”
Governor Oh Do-chang said, “Strict quality control for the premiumization of Yeongyang chili and enhancement of our county’s brand image is essential to make Yeongyang chili’s K-spicy flavor a premium product along with K-contents,” adding, “All farmers should not forget that they are ‘Yeongyang-gun ambassadors,’ and let us work together in public and private sectors for Yeongyang-gun Co., Ltd. to lead the promotion of our county’s agricultural and specialty products sales through a successful Hot Festival event.”
