SmartScore, the largest golf platform in Korea, is hosting the 1st Amateur Golf League (with a total prize money of approximately 300 million KRW).
The league will run for three months from September to November. It is the largest and first nationwide league-style tournament targeting amateur golfers across the country. It is designed to improve the skills of amateur golfers, promote the culture of golf rules and etiquette, and revitalize golf. The league is hosted by the SmartScore Amateur Golf Association, with sponsorship from the Korea Golf Association (KGA), Naver, and Golf Magazine Korea (GMK).
The league will be held in six regions: the Seoul Metropolitan Area, Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gyeongsang, and Jeju. Each regional league is divided into six leagues based on gender and handicap. Any pure amateur can participate regardless of age or skill level. Participants can easily apply by accessing the SmartScore app and using the ‘Amateur Golf League’ service. They select a golf course to determine their region and then apply and book according to their handicap.
Participants are given up to three chances. For those who participate in two or more tournaments, the best record will be counted for their final score. After the regional regular leagues conclude by mid-October, playoffs will be held in early November, followed by the final competition in mid-November where the strongest amateurs from each region compete. The winner of the Men’s Division 1 league will receive prize money and awards worth approximately 15 million KRW, while winners of Divisions 2 and 3 will receive prizes worth about 7 million KRW.
