[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Wednesday the 17th, more than 120mm of heavy rain will fall in the Yeongdong region of Gangwon and Jeju. In the Seoul metropolitan area and other central regions, there will be a brief shower in the afternoon.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, due to the influence of a stationary front, rain will fall until the morning in the southern Chungcheong region and inland southern Gyeongbuk region, until noon in the Jeonnam and Gyeongnam regions, and until night in Jeju. Due to the easterly winds, some areas in the Yeongdong region of Gangwon and the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk will also experience rain until night.

Hot and humid air is flowing in from the south while cold air is descending from the northwest, resulting in a heavy rain warning being issued for the southern, eastern, and mountainous areas of Jeju. An additional 20 to 70mm of rain is expected until the afternoon of the 17th.

The central and northern parts of Yeongdong in Gangwon and Jeju are expected to record rainfall exceeding 120mm on this day. The southern coast of Jeonnam and the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk will receive 10 to 40mm of rain, while the southern inland Chungcheong region, Jeonnam, and inland Gyeongnam will see about 5 to 10mm of rain.

During the day, temperatures will rise and cold air will flow into the upper atmosphere, causing atmospheric instability. As a result, 5 to 40mm of rain will fall from daytime to evening in the Seoul metropolitan area, Yeongseo region of Gangwon, inland Chungcheong, and inland Gyeongbuk.

The highest daytime temperature will be between 25 and 31 degrees Celsius. Except for the Yeongdong region of Gangwon and the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk, most areas nationwide will experience a maximum apparent temperature around 31 degrees Celsius, making it hot and humid. Some areas, especially around Jeju, will experience tropical nights overnight. From the night of the 17th to the morning of the 18th, fog will form in most inland areas nationwide.

Until the 17th, in the southern West Sea, the South Sea, and the southern East Sea, and until the 18th in the seas around Jeju, there will be gusts of wind accompanied by thunder and lightning. Marine transportation users should check sailing information in advance.
