[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Kang Hunsik, a candidate for the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea, is expected to hold a press conference on the afternoon of the 15th to announce his position regarding his future course of action.
Kang's camp announced through a press notice in the morning that "an emergency press conference will be held at 1 PM at the National Assembly Communication Office."
Inside and outside the party, there are speculations that Kang will resign from his candidacy for party leader at the press conference. At the same time, there is also talk of a possible unification declaration with candidate Park Yongjin.
After finishing the Chungcheong primary the previous day, Kang told reporters, "I will consider what would be the best outcome for the party and organize my thoughts."
As of the previous day, Kang's cumulative vote share among regional party members was 6.83%.
