[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Lotte Homeshopping announced on the 11th that it delivered a ‘Health Food Package’ to 200 underprivileged households in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, ahead of Malbok (the last of the three hottest days in summer).
The health food package consisted of six types of food, including Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup), Galbitang (beef short rib soup), and Misutgaru (multigrain powder). It was planned to help local elderly people recover their energy and support a healthy summer amid the increased number of heatwave days compared to average years and unexpected record-breaking heavy rains.
This event is part of Lotte Homeshopping’s community contribution program, ‘Hope Suragan.’ Since 2015, Hope Suragan has regularly prepared side dishes and delivered them to underprivileged groups in the Yeongdeungpo area. Every year during Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays, it provides holiday foods; in summer, Samgyetang; and in winter, kimchi made through kimjang. To date, it has supported a total of 314 sessions and approximately 53,000 side dishes.
A Lotte Homeshopping official said, “We delivered convenient health foods to local elderly people who are struggling due to worsening weather conditions such as heavy rain and heatwaves,” adding, “We will continue to practice sincere ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management that helps neighbors in need through various social contribution activities.”
