Reopening as an Interactive Specialized Science Museum in March Next Year

[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do is set to begin full-scale construction of a Children's Dinosaur Science Experience Center.
On the 9th, Haenam-gun announced that the Children's Dinosaur Science Experience Center, to be established by utilizing the Bird Ecology Center within the Wuhang-ri Dinosaur Fossil Site, will combine dinosaurs and science to create play-centered experiential content tailored to children's perspectives. The program is designed as an adventure called "Finding My Friend Dino: Cretaceous Dinosaur Exploration."
The creation of the Children's Dinosaur Science Experience Center is a project selected by the Ministry of Science and ICT's public contest and is the first of its kind to be promoted in Jeollanam-do.
The Children's Dinosaur Science Experience Center will cover an area of 671㎡ and consist of a total of 23 stories. It will apply adventure storytelling, where the story unfolds through an exploratory experiential method.
Additionally, tailored to the emotions of the main visitors, the center will feature various educational and entertaining elements such as personalized dinosaur characters with digital features, brightly glowing Dino City, Dino Adventure, and Dino Photo Zones. It is scheduled to reopen in March next year as Haenam's first specialized science museum.
Accordingly, the Bird Ecology Center and the Bird Feeding Experience Hall have been closed since the 5th and will remain closed until March next year.
The Wuhang-ri Dinosaur Fossil Site in Haenam-gun is Natural Monument No. 394 and holds globally significant academic resources, including the world's largest pterosaur footprints and trackways, the world's oldest webbed bird footprints, and the most detailed 1-meter-sized large herbivorous dinosaur footprints.
Furthermore, in 2007, the largest dinosaur museum in Korea was opened here, attracting approximately 200,000 family visitors annually, making it one of the world's most renowned dinosaur fossil sites.
County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, "With the establishment of the Children's Dinosaur Science Experience Center, we expect it to become a place where everyone from toddlers to dinosaur experts can encounter everything about dinosaurs." He added, "We will strengthen synergy with the Haenam Dinosaur Museum, the largest in the country, and ensure it becomes a space where children who love dinosaurs can experience and learn about dinosaurs and scientific principles."
