Changwon National University Sweeps Awards at the 9th Siemens Smart NC Competition

Changwon National University Sweeps Awards at the 9th Siemens Smart NC Competition Students from the Robotics Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Changwon National University, who swept the 9th Siemens Smart NC Competition.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Se-ryeong Lee] At the awards ceremony of the 9th Siemens Smart NC Competition, students from the Robotics Laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Changwon National University were repeatedly called to the stage, securing positions from 1st to 4th place.


The Smart NC Competition, hosted annually since 2014 by the Digital Industry (DI) division of Siemens Korea, aims to discover and support students who will grow into core talents in future technologies.


At the competition held on the 1st, the high school division competed in understanding, programming, and simulation related to Milling and Turning drawings, while the university division competed in understanding, programming, and simulation related to Milling and Turn-Mill drawings.


This year’s 1st place was awarded to Dohoon Kwak, a master's student in the Department of Mechanical Design Engineering, and 2nd place to Eunjoong Kim, a junior in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, both receiving the Minister of Employment and Labor Award.


The 3rd place winner, Hyunjun Lee, a master's student in the Department of Mechanical Design Engineering, received the International Skills Olympics President Award, and the 4th place winner, Sewoong Choi, also a master's student in the Department of Mechanical Design Engineering, received the Siemens CEO Award.


Student Dohoon Kwak said, “I prepared for this competition with my laboratory professor and team members, and I am even happier that all team members were able to win awards. I am grateful to the university and Siemens.”


Advisor Wonji Jeong of the Department of Mechanical Engineering said, “It seems that the good results came as the team members prepared diligently. I hope this competition will be an opportunity for them to further enhance their individual capabilities and take a step forward as Practical Engineers.”
