Director Nolan's New Film 'Oppenheimer' to Release in July Next Year

Director Christopher Nolan's new film 'Oppenheimer' will be released in July next year. Distributor Universal Pictures announced on the 21st that the film will be released in North America on July 21 next year. They also stated that the domestic release date will be around the same time.

The film tells the story of American physicist Robert Oppenheimer, who secretly led the 'Manhattan Project' during World War II. The Manhattan Project was the codename for atomic bomb research. Oppenheimer, along with European scientists, simultaneously developed uranium-235 and plutonium bombs in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The atomic bomb, whose tremendous explosive power was confirmed in the first test on July 16, 1945, was dropped two weeks later on Hiroshima (uranium-235 bomb) and Nagasaki (plutonium bomb) in Japan.

The film, which delves into historical truths, features a star-studded cast representing Hollywood. Alongside Cillian Murphy, who plays Oppenheimer, are Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Gary Oldman, Kenneth Branagh, Dane DeHaan, and Josh Hartnett. The camera work is handled by Hoyte van Hoytema, who has collaborated with Nolan on 'Interstellar,' 'Dunkirk,' and 'Tenet.' The film is the first in history to be shot with black-and-white IMAX cameras.
