The artillery damage was confirmed on the 13th. A resident of Hakdong Village, Sangnim 2-ri, Jiwon-myeon, discovered damage to the roof and front door and fragments measuring 25cm in length and 2cm in thickness while cleaning an empty house, and reported it to the police.
Subsequently, Sangmudae confirmed the site in the presence of military officials, police, and residents, and began an investigation including the collection of fragments. The commander of the Sangmudae Army Mechanized School also visited the site to assess the situation.
The artillery was fired from Hwangryong Artillery Range located in Daejeon-myeon, Damyang County. Sangmudae plans to compensate the affected residents. They are also known to be preparing fundamental solutions such as analyzing the cause of the accident, reinforcing the soil at the artillery shell impact point, and changing the type of artillery used.
Mayor Kim, who visited the site to comfort the residents, said, “We will actively cooperate so that Sangmudae can establish and implement definite measures to prevent recurrence.”
Following this, Mayor Kim visited a vinyl greenhouse in Maryeong-ri, Nam-myeon, where a fire broke out at dawn during artillery firing, to inspect the situation and console the farmers.
