[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will hold the ‘2022 Gwanak-gu Youth Policy Forum’ at 7:30 PM on the 13th to explore new directions for youth policies from the perspective of young people.
The district, together with the ‘Gwanak Youth Network (Chair Lee Ga-young),’ will create a communication platform to discuss the direction of youth policies in Gwanak-gu and freely express opinions.
The forum will be held via the online video conferencing platform Zoom and Gwanak-gu’s YouTube channel ‘Live Gwanak’ to prevent the resurgence of COVID-19 and encourage active participation from youth.
The first part of the forum will introduce various policies currently being promoted in the youth city of Gwanak, such as employment, housing, and jobs, and discuss ways to solidify and expand youth policies in Gwanak.
There will also be time to introduce the ‘Gwanak Youth Network,’ a governance partner in youth policy that will help transform the future of Gwanak.
The second part will provide an opportunity for on-site panelists, online youth panelists participating via the Zoom app, and viewers watching the YouTube channel to freely share opinions and engage in discussions.
Youth aged 19 to 39 who reside or live in Gwanak-gu can participate as ‘online youth panelists.’ Those interested can apply by accessing the QR code at the bottom of the poster.
On the day of the forum, anyone can watch the live broadcast on Gwanak-gu’s YouTube channel ‘Live Gwanak’ without prior registration and can ask questions or share opinions in real time through the online chat window.
For more details about the ‘2022 Gwanak-gu Youth Policy Forum,’ please contact the Youth Policy Division or the Gwanak Youth Network.
In particular, under the 8th term of the elected government, Gwanak-gu, which ranks first nationwide with a youth population ratio of 40.97%, plans to promote more focused and systematic youth and cultural policies through the establishment of the nation’s first ‘Youth Culture Bureau’ and the completion of the ‘Gwanak Youth Center,’ which will serve as a comprehensive youth policy hub.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “I hope this youth policy forum will be an opportunity to confirm the will of local youth who want to proactively solve youth issues,” adding, “The district will actively strive to ensure that the outcomes of the forum are not just proposals but are realized as excellent policies that allow talented individuals to settle in Gwanak-gu and achieve their dreams.”
Seocho-gu (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) is providing the ‘Youth Seocho Health Checkup’ service at the Seocho-gu Public Health Center for single-person households aged 19 to 34 in the area.
The checkup items include ▲tumor markers (4 types for men, 5 types for women) ▲thyroid function (T3, TSH, Free T4) ▲hepatitis A and liver/kidney function ▲diabetes and hyperlipidemia ▲syphilis and AIDS tests ▲rubella, among others. Additionally, an AI medical imaging analysis support system is used to help early detection of various lung diseases such as lung cancer, pneumonia, and pneumothorax.
The service is conducted through one-on-one customized consultations with medical examiners, is completely free of charge, and can be done once a year.
The district also carefully manages follow-up care after the checkup. Those with abnormal findings will be guided to specialized medical institutions, and regular health management is available at the Metabolic Syndrome Management Center.
This is expected to help improve health management capabilities by not only detecting health risk factors early among single-person household youth, who tend to have relatively low interest in health management, but also improving lifestyle habits through follow-up care.
Youth single-person households who wish to receive the checkup service can visit the Health Checkup Center on the 2nd floor of Seocho-gu Public Health Center on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM with their ID and resident registration certificate. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Medical Support Division of Seocho-gu Public Health Center.
The district has been making various efforts for the healthy lives of single-person household youth in the area. In March 2019, Seocho-gu opened the nation’s first ‘Seocho Single-Person Household Support Center,’ providing services such as short-term caregiving, hospital accompaniment, moving and cleaning support, residential safety equipment support, and pet care services, carefully managing the lives of single-person households.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “We will make more meticulous efforts to improve the health management capabilities so that single-person household youth in Seocho-gu can live healthy lives.”

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) announced that it will hold the 164th online Gangseo Knowledge Vitamin lecture titled ‘As the Heart Flows, Without Regrets.’
This lecture is designed to help those of us who face moments of choice and hesitation in life decide what choices to make and how to act.
The lecturer is Professor Ji Na-young, the first Korean professor in the Department of Child Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University in the United States and author of the bestseller ‘As the Heart Flows.’
Professor Ji Na-young, who was thriving as a professor at Johns Hopkins University, will share small life lessons she learned after suddenly suffering from an incurable disease and will teach ways to live a life for oneself.
She will especially explain cognitive behavioral therapy, which causes changes in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and will clearly describe from a psychiatric perspective the positive effects of positive thinking on us.

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Sung-myeong) has achieved the first result of the ‘2022 Medical Gangnam Online Patient Consultation’ held since May targeting Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Middle Eastern countries.
The first patient arriving from Mongolia decided to undergo surgery after an online consultation with Gangnam Nanuri Hospital on May 10 and entered the country on the 9th of this month. The patient will receive knee joint replacement surgery at the hospital and undergo two weeks of inpatient treatment.
Mongolia lacks infrastructure for severe treatment, leading to a continuous increase in medical tourists to Korea, where trust and preference for Korean medical tourism are high.
The ‘Medical Gangnam Online Patient Consultation,’ which Gangnam-gu is conducting until the end of August, involves 22 medical cooperation institutions, including large general hospitals such as Samsung Seoul Hospital and Gangnam Severance Hospital, as well as plastic surgery and dermatology clinics.
Mayor Jo Sung-myeong said, “As the ‘No. 1 Medical Tourism District,’ Gangnam-gu has actively promoted attracting medical tourists in preparation for the post-COVID era by conducting SNS events and online patient consultations for overseas patients despite difficulties in international travel due to COVID-19,” adding, “We will continue to expand patient-medical institution linkage services for overseas tourists seeking Gangnam-gu’s advanced medical infrastructure.”
