Providing Various Experience Opportunities Through Club Activities After Obtaining Certifications
Pohang Youth Foundation Launches Vocational Training Program for Out-of-School Youth to Pursue Dreams as Baristas.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Pohang City Youth Foundation's Out-of-School Youth Support Center (hereinafter referred to as the Kkumdeulim Center) in Gyeongbuk started a vocational training course from the 6th that allows out-of-school youth to pursue their dream of becoming baristas.
In this barista vocational training course, the center utilizes the barista training room, a dedicated space for out-of-school youth within the center, to provide education on coffee and barista theory and practical training. Those who pass the written and practical exams will be supported to obtain the Level 2 Barista Certification. Afterwards, opportunities will be provided to gain various experiences such as simulated startups and volunteer activities through club activities.
This year, having been selected for the second year of the Youth Bizcool Contest Project by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, the center plans to offer not only the barista vocational training course but also entrepreneur special lectures, club operations, and job experiences to help out-of-school youth develop a positive perception of entrepreneurship and a spirit of challenge.
Yoon Youngran, Executive Director of the Pohang City Youth Foundation, said, “We will not only support out-of-school youth to achieve accomplishments through obtaining certifications and to cultivate their vocational skills but also make every effort to help them accumulate diverse experiences.”
The Kkumdeulim Center provides various services for out-of-school youth, including a clarinet ensemble, English conversation courses, meal support, a GED exam ticket event, and the ‘Pass Guarantee!! GED Preparation Class for High School Equivalency’ held throughout July.
