Gwangju Nam-gu Council: "We Will Become a Studying and Researching Council"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Nam-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City held the opening ceremony of the 9th Nam-gu Council on the 5th, marking the official start of its legislative activities.

The opening ceremony was held simply without inviting external guests, attended only by Nam-gu Mayor Kim Byeong-nae, senior officials of the district office, and council members' families.

The 9th council members pledged through an oath to comply with laws and regulations and to faithfully perform their duties according to their conscience for the enhancement of residents' rights, welfare improvement, and the development of the local community.

Chairperson Hwang Gyeong-a said in her opening address, "We will strengthen the legislative capabilities of each council member to create a council that studies and researches, responding to the demands of the residents." She added, "We will correct inappropriate practices, boldly decide and enact various systems and autonomous regulations from the residents' perspective, listen to the voices of the residents, find answers on site, and present reasonable alternatives to bring changes to the residents' lives."

Meanwhile, the Nam-gu Council plans to hold the 2nd plenary session on the 6th to decide the "2022 1st regular meeting assembly date" and to close the 285th extraordinary session.
