Pilot Project for Childcare Support Payments to Adolescent Parents from July to December
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, will implement a pilot project to support child-rearing expenses for youth parents under the age of 24 from July to December.
The child-rearing expense support project for youth parents was established to reduce the parenting burden on youth parents.
It targets all parents aged 24 or younger, born after June 1, 1997, and if they are actually raising a child, they can receive 200,000 KRW per child.
The income criteria require that the combined average monthly income of both father and mother in 2021 corresponds to 60% or less of the 2022 median income for a household of three, which is 2,510,000 KRW.
Youth parents wishing to apply for support can apply at their local administrative welfare center from July, bringing their ID cards.
Applicants must submit an application form and either a certificate of income amount or proof of income, and any additional documents based on household characteristics should be submitted after consultation at the administrative welfare center.
For more details, you can call the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family’s family counseling phone line and press extension 2, or inquire at the city’s Welfare, Women and Health Bureau’s Women and Family Division, or at the administrative welfare centers.
Choi Youngsook, head of the Women and Family Division, said, “Youth parents are often in blind spots of policy and face difficulties due to the burdens of child-rearing, studies, and job preparation,” adding, “We will carefully support youth parents so they can live stable lives.”
