On the 23rd, 12 local companies participated at the POSCO Human Resources Creation Center to exchange know-how and opinions related to chemical substances and held the "2nd Quarter Pohang Industrial Complex Chemical Safety Community Workshop."
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] POSCO Pohang Steelworks Environmental Resources Group announced on the 29th that it held the '2nd Quarter Pohang Industrial Complex Chemical Safety Community Workshop' at the POSCO Human Resources Creation Center on the 23rd.
The 'Pohang Industrial Complex Chemical Safety Community' is an emergency response community for chemical accidents established by the Daegu Regional Environmental Office in 2013.
Organized by Pohang Steelworks, 12 companies located in the Pohang Industrial Complex, including SeAH Special Steel and Dongkuk Industry, participate to perform rapid joint response and disaster prevention in case of chemical accidents.
This workshop was held for the first time in two years after being suspended due to the impact of COVID-19, with all 12 companies including Pohang Steelworks attending to exchange know-how and opinions related to chemical substances and to establish a mutual cooperation system.
In May, Pohang Steelworks shared key management points of hazardous chemical substance handling facilities through the Daegu Regional Environmental Office's guidance and inspection response case, and presented major issues related to chemical substances such as the Chemical Substances Control Act, the Environmental Health Act licensing process, and the chemical accident prevention management plan system.
Team Leader Lee Gil-tae of Daehot Special Steel said, "It was a good opportunity to share work related to chemical substances, which increased understanding of new systems and regulations," and added, "We hope to expand community activities in various ways such as workplace benchmarking and safety campaigns in the future."
The Pohang Steelworks Environmental Resources Group plans to continue organizing various activities and maintaining a cooperative system with the community to strengthen chemical safety in the Pohang Industrial Complex.
