Bio Association Operates Korean Pavilion at 2022 BIO USA

[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The Korea Bio Association announced on the 8th that it will participate in the '2022 BIO International Convention (2022 BIO USA)' held from the 13th to 16th (local time) at the San Diego Convention Center in the United States, supported by the overseas exhibition support project of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

BIO USA is a bio exhibition with participation from over 8,000 companies from 65 countries worldwide. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held online in 2020 and 2021, and this year it will be held offline for the first time in three years. The Korea Bio Association and KOTRA have continuously promoted the Korean bio industry by operating the Korea Pavilion at BIO USA. This year, 13 domestic companies and institutions plan to conduct various promotional activities together.

Participating companies in the Korea Pavilion include ▲ Gangstem Biotech, a stem cell therapy developer ▲ Bio3S, developing virus infectious disease response and diagnostic technologies ▲ Standigm, an AI-based new drug developer ▲ IMBDX, possessing liquid biopsy-based solution technology ▲ EvidNet, a medical data platform company ▲ DT & Sanomedics, a contract research organization (CRO) ▲ Ludacure, a dry eye treatment developer ▲ Eisen Science, an AI-based new drug developer ▲ S&K Therapeutics, a new drug developer for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases ▲ LSK Global Pharma Services, a CRO ▲ JD Bioscience, a metabolic disease treatment new drug developer ▲ Tegoscience, a skin cell therapy developer, totaling 12 companies exhibiting and introducing their bio technologies and products at the Korea Pavilion. The Chuncheon Bio Industry Promotion Agency will also participate to support the promotion of companies based in Chuncheon.

Additionally, during the BIO USA exhibition period this year, the Bio Association plans to hold side events to build networks among participating companies and activate business. On the 14th, a Korea-US roundtable hosted by Merck (MSD) and the US Bio Association (BIO) will discuss future cooperation between Korean and US pharmaceutical and bio companies. This is led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Bio Convergence Industry Division.

That evening, consulting and networking events between Korea Pavilion participating companies and the Korean American Society of Pharmaceutical Professionals (KASBP), as well as seminars and dinner symposiums on strategies for entering the US pharmaceutical and bio markets, are planned. This event is co-hosted by the Bio Association, KOTRA, and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and supported by KASBP.

On the evening of the 15th, a conference will be held targeting US bio companies wishing to list on the Korean stock market, where the Korea Exchange (KRX) and domestic investors will introduce Korea's KOSDAQ market and listing policies.

Lee Seung-gyu, Vice Chairman of the Korea Bio Association, said, "By operating the Korea Pavilion at this global bio event, we can confirm the global competitiveness of the Korean bio industry and provide a venue for network building through seminars."
