'One Million Land' Opens on SKT ifland

Metaverse Culture Project Part 2

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] SK Telecom announced on the 25th that it will open 'OneMillion Land' on the metaverse (extended virtual world) platform 'ifland' in collaboration with the global dance content company OneMillion.

OneMillion operates an offline dance studio and a YouTube channel with approximately 25.2 million subscribers, leading the global dance culture. As of last month, the channel ranks 5th among all YouTube channels in South Korea in terms of subscriber count.

OneMillion Land is the result of the 'Metaverse Culture Project' promoted based on the 'Business Agreement for Co-growth of Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises in the Immersive Content Field' signed by SK Telecom and the Korea Creative Content Agency in May last year.

At OneMillion Land, OneMillion's dance classes are offered in the form of nine online lectures. Visitors who are new to dance can learn basics such as dance fundamentals, bounce, popping, and groove. About 17 dance class videos are scheduled to be released by next month.

SK Telecom will also introduce 45 avatar dance motions and 5 OneMillion dancer costumes on ifland. The 45 dance motions consist of basic choreography about 10 seconds long. An avatar dance challenge event using Instagram Reels is planned to start from the 5th of next month.

Meanwhile, to commemorate the opening of OneMillion Land, SK Telecom and OneMillion will hold a metaverse fan meeting with OneMillion dancers including Amazon from 8 PM on the 25th. They will exclusively release the original dance battle content 'Shocking' on ifland next month and are preparing dance workshops led by representative OneMillion dancers such as Color Dance Team and Gwacheon Kkul Subak.

Yang Maeng-seok, head of SK Telecom's Metaverse CO, said, "We are pleased to present a metaverse dance project in collaboration with world-class dance crews," adding, "We hope that OneMillion permanent land will become a metaverse channel that communicates with dance fans worldwide through unreleased dance battle videos and dance classes with avatars."

Choi Young-min, CEO of OneMillion, said, "OneMillion's entry into the metaverse will be an interesting experiment as a channel providing new experiences in dance culture," and added, "OneMillion Land is highly anticipated as a channel where OneMillion dancers can communicate with their fans."
