Daily Average Ridership of Donghae Line Commuter Rail Increased by 26% in April

Ulsan City announced on the 19th that since the opening of the second phase of the Donghae Line from Ilgwang to Taehwagang on December 28 last year, the number of users at Taehwagang Station reached 1,067,596 by the end of April.

Monthly user numbers were 53,863 in December 2021, 319,141 in January this year, 208,999 in February, 213,959 in March, and 271,661 in April.

The average daily users at Taehwagang Station showed a declining trend until March, but increased by 31.2% in April compared to the previous month due to the rise in spring outing visitors.

The average daily users of the entire Donghae Line metropolitan railway from Bujeon to Taehwagang increased by 25.9%, from 75,682 in March to 95,318 in April.

Among stations, Busan BEXCO Station had the highest number of users, with Taehwagang Station ranking fifth.

According to the 'Donghae Line Opening Effect' survey conducted by the Ulsan Institute, the main travel purposes were commuting and schooling at 29%, personal errands such as visiting friends and relatives at 29%, travel and tourism at 16.7%, and business trips at 12.2%.

An official from Ulsan City stated, “We will continuously analyze the monthly changes in Donghae Line users and utilize the research results to develop customized policies. We also plan to enhance user convenience by persistently requesting the Korea Railroad Corporation to shorten the train intervals for better service.”
