Gyeonggi-do to Launch 'Tourism Promotion Centers' Nationwide

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is set to promote Gyeonggi tourism across the country.

The province announced on the 19th that starting from June 21st in Sangam-dong, Seoul, it will operate the 'Gyeonggi Tourism Promotion Center' in major regions nationwide until October to highlight the excellence of its tourism resources.

The Gyeonggi Tourism Promotion Center is a specially designed vehicle shaped like an airplane, serving as a mobile promotional center that uses videos, experiences, and informational materials to introduce tourist attractions within the province. Inside the center, visitors receive a paper passport and participate in the 'Gyeonggi Tourism Passport Pass Program,' where they stamp their passports as if going through airplane boarding procedures. The center also offers a service to take commemorative boarding photos for visitors who wish.

Outside the vehicle, event experts are invited to conduct activities such as note (treasure) hunts and Gyeonggi tourism quizzes to keep waiting visitors entertained, along with providing customized tourist destination recommendations.

The schedule for the promotion center by region is as follows: ▲ June - Jeonbuk, Gwangju Metropolitan City ▲ July - Ansan, Siheung ▲ August - Gangwon ▲ September - Chungbuk, Chungnam ▲ October - Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam.

In some locations, the center will operate in cooperation with local city and county governments to introduce tourist sites in unique ways specific to each area. For example, using the 'Metaverse' platform for a virtual Siheung travel experience to provide and recommend Siheung tourist information.

Meanwhile, last year the province operated a mobile promotional center in the form of a camping caravan in Seoul, Ulsan, Changwon, and other locations.
