"Hot, Hot" Early Heatwave Drives Soaring Sales of Cooling Appliances

Hi-Mart Air Conditioner Sales Increase by 20%
Emart Fan Sales Grow by 320%

According to the industry on the 17th, sales of cooling appliances such as air conditioners, circulators, and fans increased by double digits compared to the previous year between May 6 and 12, when early summer heat arrived. During this period, Hi-Mart's air conditioner sales grew by 20% compared to the same period last year. Fan sales rose by 80%, and circulator sales doubled. At Electron Land, air conditioner sales increased by 5%, while fan and circulator sales jumped by 101% each. Sales of cooling appliances at supermarkets also increased. Emart's air conditioner sales grew by 75%, fan sales by 321.7%, and circulator sales by 50.7% compared to the same period last year. Homeplus also saw fan sales increase by 69% and circulator sales by 54%.

May, when the weather starts to get warmer, is the month when sales of cooling appliances begin to rise. Especially for air conditioners, consumers start purchasing them before the peak summer season to ensure immediate installation without delay. This seasonal characteristic, combined with the early arrival of the heat, appears to have driven the sales growth.

In response, retailers plan to advance various discount events for cooling appliances. Hi-Mart will hold an "Air Conditioner Grand Sale" throughout May, a month earlier than usual. Electron Land will host an "Air Conditioner & Refrigerator Festa." Emart will run fan discount events until the 25th of this month and Samsung and LG air conditioner discount events until the 1st of next month. Homeplus, which has started early display of cooling appliances, will present brand sales and an Electrica fan special exhibition.
