Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk, is promoting an ice pack reuse project that collects, cleans, and sterilizes ice packs for redistribution.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Gyeongsan City, Gyeongbuk Province, is promoting an 'Ice Pack Reuse' project.
Since January, Gyeongsan City has been collecting, washing, and sterilizing discarded ice packs to provide them to places in need, as part of the ice pack reuse project aimed at revitalizing resource recycling and preventing environmental pollution.
The city has installed dedicated ice pack collection boxes at eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers, collecting gel-type ice packs. These are then washed, sterilized, and packaged at the ice pack reuse facility before being provided free of charge to demand sites requiring ice packs.
Additionally, to increase citizen participation in the ice pack reuse project, dedicated ice pack collection boxes will be installed in apartment complexes for a certain period.
Choi Young-jo, mayor of Gyeongsan City, said, "The ice pack reuse project is a program that prevents environmental pollution by reusing ice packs that would otherwise be discarded as household waste," and added, "We hope many citizens will participate in revitalizing resource recycling."
