[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] Toss Securities announced on the 4th that the cumulative number of uses of the 'Stock Gifting' service surpassed 100,000 cases within 9 months of its launch.
The age group that used Stock Gifting the most was people in their 40s, accounting for about 30% of all users. Additionally, there was a balanced usage rate across all age groups, including those in their 30s (23%), 50s (21%), and 20s (20%).
The average number of gifts per customer tended to decrease as the age group got younger. Customers in their 50s had the highest average at 3.1 gifts, followed by those in their 60s (2.4), 40s (2.2), 30s (2), and 20s (1.8). The highest number of gifts given by a single customer reached 514.
The top three stocks most gifted by Toss Securities investors were Samsung Electronics, Daehan Electric Wire, and Daehan Shipping. It was explained that the popular stocks for gifting showed similar trends to the stocks with high trading volumes during the month.
'Stock Gifting' is a service on the Toss app that allows users to easily gift stocks by simply entering the recipient's name and phone number. As of the end of April, the cumulative number of uses of the gifting service was about 101,000, with an average of over 11,000 gifts made each month. Since last month, the 'Instant Gifting' feature has been added, allowing users to purchase stocks and gift them immediately.
A Toss Securities official stated, "Through continuous service improvements such as Instant Gifting and gift tax reporting, we will continue to provide a better customer experience for stock gifting."
