[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Emart24 held the 'Emart24 Designated Center Agreement and Plaque Ceremony' with Cheongsong Apple Distribution Center on the 27th.
According to Emart24 on the 28th, Songwon APC, which operates the Cheongsong Apple Distribution Center on consignment, is the largest apple supplier in Korea, equipped with the latest facilities and know-how for sugar content sorting, washing, and packaging.
Through this designated center agreement, apple farmers in the Cheongsong area will be able to secure sales channels, and Emart24 will establish a win-win structure to stably supply carefully selected high-quality apples from Cheongsong, one of Korea's representative apple-producing regions.
Apples are one of the key fruits purchased by customers throughout the year as a meal replacement and snack, and Emart24 expects that this agreement will further enhance the competitiveness of fruits.
Additionally, starting from the 29th, Emart24 will strengthen fresh food by introducing eco-friendly vegetables and antibiotic-free frozen pork belly.
The eco-friendly vegetables introduced by Emart24 include 10 types such as lettuce, potatoes, onions, peeled garlic, and perilla leaves, certified organic and pesticide-free. They will be sold in small packages suitable for 1-2 person households, focusing on vegetables that are frequently purchased. Prices range from 1,700 KRW to 2,700 KRW.
The product packaging includes a QR code linking to an information page about the excellence of eco-friendly vegetables to increase customer trust, and since the products are supplied by social enterprises, a portion of the profits will be donated to underprivileged groups.
Emart24 will also introduce antibiotic-free frozen pork belly called 'Seolseong Farm Frozen Korean Pork.' Seolseong Farm Frozen Korean Pork is a product rapidly frozen from carefully selected Korean pork raised healthily on farms strictly managed through a member farm system, and is packaged in a quantity (300g) suitable for 1-2 people.
The reason Emart24 is strengthening fresh food like this is that as the number of 1-2 person households increases, the number of customers purchasing fresh food at nearby convenience stores is also increasing. In fact, Emart24's fresh food sales have increased by an average of more than 50% annually over the past three years.
