SH Corporation Implements 'SH-Type Safety Management Special Plan' in Sewoon 4 District

[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) will apply the ‘SH-type Safety Management Special Plan’ to the demolition work of buildings in Sewoon 4 District.

On the 27th, SH Corporation announced that it decided to apply the ‘SH-type Safety Management Special Plan,’ based on the demolition work practical manual it produced in March, to the demolition work of buildings in Sewoon 4 District.

The Sewoon 4 District urban maintenance-type redevelopment project involves constructing a mixed commercial building including offices, officetels, and retail facilities, with 6 basement floors and 20 above-ground floors, in the area around 85 Yeji-dong, Jongno-gu. SH Corporation plans to complete compensation in the area and demolish 183 existing buildings by August. Construction work is targeted to start in March 2023.

The special plan applied to the demolition work in Sewoon 4 District includes ▲mandatory placement of two resident supervisors due to the obligation of resident supervision ▲installation of CCTV in the project area and site management through a mobile app ▲strengthening internal safety inspections by introducing external experts ▲installation of temporary steel (EGI) fences in addition to scaffolding ▲installation of pedestrian safety passages (around bus stops, etc.) ▲use of broadband cooling fog sprinklers to strengthen dust control ▲establishment of a citizen guidance system for demolition work through installation of demolition work signboards and notices.

Through this, it is expected to strengthen the management and supervision system of the Sewoon 4 District demolition work and prevent serious accidents. Furthermore, it is expected to contribute to protecting the safety of citizens in the surrounding area and safely managing the living environment.

Ahead of the full-scale demolition work in Sewoon 4 District, President Kim Heondong personally visited the site on the day to inspect the safety management special plan and urged on-site workers to pay special attention to safety.

This visit was arranged for President Kim Heondong to tour the site where the ‘SH-type Safety Management Special Plan’ was applied and to emphasize the creation of a clean and safe site. President Kim met directly with construction company officials and site safety managers, urging them to thoroughly manage the safety of on-site workers. He also distributed health drinks and souvenirs to on-site workers while conducting a safety and integrity campaign that introduced the Corruption Reporting Center and the Safety Reporting Reward System.

President Kim Heondong stated, "Even minor corrupt acts or a single moment of carelessness at construction sites can lead to major safety accidents, so I will continue to actively strive to create clean and safe construction sites."
