Hwasun-gun Goes All Out to Secure National Funding for Next Year's Key Projects

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeollanam-do Hwasun-gun is making every effort to secure the 2023 national budget necessary for promoting key projects that will drive regional growth.

The county announced on the 27th that since early this year, it has been reviewing local pending projects, discovering new projects to secure national funds, and consecutively holding reporting meetings on newly discovered projects for national budget acquisition.

They also plan to promote 97 national budget projects worth 157.4 billion KRW, including vaccine and bio industries, expansion of cultural tourism infrastructure, revitalization of agriculture and rural areas, and life-oriented SOC projects.

In addition, a total of 97 key projects, including 47 new projects such as the Seoseongje (Hwansanjeong) area tourism resource development project, Hwasun Modern History Museum construction project, Food Integrated Support Center establishment, and Hwasun-eup residential parking lot construction, will be applied for to the central government through Jeollanam-do by the 31st of next month.

They also plan to actively propose national budget support in research and development fields such as the establishment of a national immune therapy platform linked to the region's vaccine medical infrastructure, AI-based advanced new drug development and clinical support platform construction, and bio-industry sector workforce training for the vaccine industry.

The county has secured 126 billion KRW in national funds, including the expansion of functions of the National Vaccine Safety Technology Support Center (13.1 billion KRW), establishment of the National Vaccine Safety Technology Support Center (9.6 billion KRW), rural agreement projects (1.5 billion KRW), and Hwasun Tree Village development (1 billion KRW).

A county official said, "Last year, we secured over 100 billion KRW in national funds for the first time in the county," adding, "This year, we will respond swiftly to new national policy tasks and do our best to ensure that local pending projects are reflected as much as possible in the central government’s budget plan."
