Resumption of Busan-Fukuoka, Busan-Danang, and Busan-Cebu Routes from May
Meeting Overseas Travel Demand, Expansion and Resumption of International Flights, Normalization of Gimhae Airport
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The air routes to Busan, which were closed due to COVID-19, are gradually reopening.
Air Busan is resuming flights on routes from Busan to Japan and Southeast Asia.
Starting in May, Air Busan will resume flights on the △Busan-Fukuoka △Busan-Da Nang △Busan-Cebu routes to meet the surging demand for overseas travel.
These routes, suspended for 26 months, are the most preferred travel destinations for travelers departing from Busan.
With Air Busan resuming operations, the suppressed overseas travel sentiment is expected to revive, and demand is projected to surge.
The Japan Fukuoka route will resume flights from May 31. The schedule departs from Gimhae International Airport at 9:55 AM and arrives at Fukuoka Airport at 10:50 AM; the return flight departs Fukuoka Airport at 11:45 AM and arrives at Gimhae International Airport at 12:40 PM.
Flights operate once a week, and the days of operation for flights starting in June are under consultation with quarantine authorities. Flight time is approximately 55 minutes.
The Vietnam Da Nang route will resume flights from June 29. The schedule departs Gimhae International Airport at 8:30 PM and arrives at Da Nang International Airport at 11:10 PM; the return flight departs Da Nang International Airport at 2:10 AM and arrives at Gimhae International Airport at 8:30 AM. Flights operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with a flight time of about 4 hours and 40 minutes.
The Philippines Cebu route will resume flights from July 15. The schedule departs Gimhae International Airport at 8:00 AM and arrives at Mactan-Cebu International Airport at 11:20 AM; the return flight departs Mactan-Cebu International Airport at 12:50 PM and arrives at Gimhae International Airport at 6:20 PM. Flights operate twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, with a flight time of about 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Air Busan stated that the routes resuming sequentially from May are irregular flights with a regular service pattern, and the timing and schedule of operations are subject to change.
Air Busan is actively working toward the early normalization of Gimhae Airport through the expansion of international routes.
Air Busan currently operates all three international routes from Gimhae Airport: △Busan-Qingdao △Busan-Saipan △Busan-Guam, contributing to the recovery of the local travel and tourism industry.
An Air Busan official said, “In line with the government’s phased plan for the gradual recovery of international flights, we are thoroughly preparing to restore international routes early and operate them safely,” adding, “We will expand international routes to revitalize Gimhae Airport.”
