On the 22nd, Earth Day, employees holding reusable cups are passing by a promotional banner for reusable cup use installed in the lobby on the first floor of Gangseo-gu Office in Seoul. The district office is collaborating with five nearby coffee shops to promote a pilot project encouraging the use of reusable cups to reduce disposable cup usage.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Roh Hyun-song) is launching a "Reusable Cup Pilot Project" starting this month to create an eco-friendly government office without disposable cups.
For this project, the district has partnered with five coffee shops near the government office. These coffee shops provide beverages in reusable cups to district office employees, who then return the cups to designated collection bins installed in the government office.
The used reusable cups are collected by a professional cleaning company, washed and sterilized, and then returned to the cafes for reuse.
Based on the pilot operation results, the district plans to gradually expand the number of coffee shops offering reusable cups.
