Hwang Sang-mu Nominated as People Power Party Candidate for Gangwon Province Governor... "Will Definitely Change Provincial Administration" Hwang Sang-mu, People Power Party Candidate for Governor of Gangwon Province

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Hwang Sang-mu, former KBS anchor and the People Power Party's candidate for governor of Gangwon Province, stated, "I accept this as a mandate for a new era and new leadership in Gangwon Province, and I will definitely win the change in provincial administration."

On the afternoon of the 14th, Hwang held a press conference at his campaign office and said, "I respect the magnanimous decision and choice of the central party's nomination management committee," adding, "I will unite with everyone who longs for a change in provincial administration, advance as a united front, and surely achieve victory."

Regarding former lawmaker Kim Jin-tae, who applied for the nomination but was cut off, he said, "I offer my sincere condolences to prospective candidate Kim Jin-tae, who competed with good intentions," and added, "I will fully embrace the will and intentions that Candidate Kim wished to pursue, replace the 12 years of Democratic Party administration, and realize dynamic development in Gangwon."

He continued, "Under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, Gangwon will no longer be a land of backwardness, neglect, and extinction. If I am elected governor, there will be no more neglect or poor treatment," emphasizing, "There are plans to resolve overlapping regulations and to carry out long-awaited projects such as the Osaek cable car and the economic special autonomous province. From this moment, I will run forward with my eyes fixed on changing the provincial administration."

During the presidential election process, Hwang served as the head of the media strategy planning team of the central election committee and advised on TV debate strategies for President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol. He also served as co-chairman of the Gangwon election committee.

Regarding suspicions that so-called 'Yoon-sim' (President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's favor) influenced the nomination results, he strongly denied, saying, "There seems to be some misunderstanding. That is not the case at all, and I did not feel that Yoon-sim played a role during the primary process."

He added, "I believe the party's nomination management committee made a magnanimous decision considering various factors, assessing the nationwide election landscape and competitiveness in the general election," and said, "I share a deep alignment with President-elect Yoon's governance philosophy, and once the new government is established and I take charge of the provincial administration, I will work well within that relationship."

Regarding raising his recognition during the remaining election period, he expressed confidence, saying, "I can sufficiently increase it, and I believe that if I sincerely appeal based on my career, achievements in various fields, abilities, and skills, the residents will definitely choose me."

Meanwhile, the People Power Party's nomination management committee held a full meeting that morning and unanimously decided to recommend prospective candidate Hwang as the sole candidate for governor of Gangwon Province.
