Delivery Robot Factory... Electric Vehicle Battery Factory... Damyang-style Social Goods
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] In the election for the 8th term of the Damyang County Governor, Lee Byeongno, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate leading the policy election, has attracted attention by presenting a ‘refreshing Damyang development strategy.’
Lee Byeongno, the Democratic Party preliminary candidate for Damyang County Governor, announced on the 14th that he had summarized and introduced unique pledges that will change Damyang’s future, including the ‘establishment of a delivery robot factory,’ among his various policy promises on the 13th.
Previously pledging the early promotion of the 2nd General Industrial Complex, Lee emphasized, “We must expedite the attraction of a delivery robot factory to the 2nd General Industrial Complex.”
He stated, “By 2030, delivery robots will become commonplace,” and added, “To leap forward as a top-tier city, Damyang must hasten the attraction of advanced technology companies such as delivery robot factories.”
Along with this, he pointed out, “One of the biggest concerns for companies in the future is achieving carbon neutrality,” and noted, “As a prompt response to this industrial trend, the establishment of an electric vehicle battery factory is urgent.”
He continued, “If we utilize the location adjacent to the Gwangju Kia Motors factory to attract an electric vehicle battery factory, which is a key component of automobiles, it could become a new growth engine for Damyang.”
Lee added, “If we promote the early development of the 2nd General Industrial Complex and prepare strategies to attract advanced technology companies from the design stage, it is a fully feasible task.”
Introducing the Damyang-type social economy activation model, ‘Damyang-type Social Goods,’ is also one of Lee’s core pledges.
This plan aims to expand support for various social economy enterprises in the region, such as village enterprises, cooperatives, and social enterprises, to create a virtuous economic cycle model in the area.
In particular, the strategy supports revitalizing the agricultural economy by expanding stable sales channels for local agricultural products through the activation of local food stores.
Finally, there is the introduction of the ‘Damyang Call Bus’ utilizing AI. It is a demand-responsive transport (DRT) service tailored to the needs of residents so they can use it whenever necessary, a system already implemented in some local governments.
Lee Byeongno said, “The happiness of the residents must be the top priority in the 8th term of Damyang’s county administration,” and added, “Attracting advanced companies, securing stable sales channels for local agricultural products, and guaranteeing residents’ mobility rights can be alternatives.”
