Comprehensive counseling tailored from daily concerns to future planning... Service and policy linkage, social network program support
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 12th that it will open the Seoul Youth Center ‘Gangseo Orang’ on the 19th. Gangseo Orang is the 12th Seoul Youth Center to open in Seoul and will serve as a hub for youth policies in the area.
The Seoul Youth Center ‘Orang’ is Seoul’s representative youth support institution that enhances the synergy of Seoul-style youth policies and supports youth social entry in various ways. The name means “All youth, come here.”
‘Gangseo Orang’ is located on the second floor of a transit-oriented youth housing near Wujangsan Station on Subway Line 5, just a 5-minute walk away. It is expected that not only local youth but also youth residing here will actively use the center’s support programs in their daily lives.
The center has dedicated staff who provide customized comprehensive counseling for youth, from everyday concerns to future planning, linking and providing Seoul city and local services, policies, and information, and also operates social network (community) support programs.
The center also serves as a support and execution hub space that practically connects youth policies such as Seoul Young Tech, Youth Monthly Rent, and Youth Employment Academy, announced by Mayor Oh Se-hoon on March 23 as part of the ‘2025 Seoul Youth Comprehensive Plan,’ to youth in need.
‘Gangseo Orang’ was established on the second floor of transit-oriented youth housing in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, with a total floor area of 602.11㎡. It consists of ▲‘Counseling Rooms’ for one-on-one consultations with experts ▲‘Meeting Rooms’ for small gatherings, special lectures, and seminars ▲‘Studios’ equipped with broadcasting facilities such as cameras and lighting ▲‘Rest Areas’ where regionally specialized programs are operated. It is freely accessible to all youth aged 19 to 39.
Seoul plans to operate ‘Gangseo Orang’ on a trial basis for one week starting from the 12th and officially open it with an opening ceremony at 5 p.m. on the 19th. Additionally, Seoul has established Seoul Youth Centers in 12 districts, which account for half of Seoul, balancing regional zones. It will create additional youth centers in cooperation with autonomous districts by 2025.
Meanwhile, applications for comprehensive counseling and information on various programs at the Seoul Youth Center can be found on the official website. Kim Cheol-hee, head of the Seoul Future Youth Planning Team, said, “The newly opened ‘Gangseo Orang’ is a space supporting various youth policies of Seoul and an infrastructure that provides numerous services tailored to the needs of youth, helping them plan their futures. We will generously support more youth to make a strong leap forward through the Seoul Youth Center.”
