Dump Truck Hits Utility Pole and Restaurant in Alley of Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam... Power Outage in the Area


[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A dump truck collided with a utility pole and a restaurant in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, causing a power outage affecting about 800 nearby households.


According to the Seoul Gangnam Police Station on the 9th, at around 10:24 a.m., a dump truck descending a hill on a narrow street in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, hit a utility pole while making a right turn, knocking it down and crashing into the exterior wall of a restaurant.


As a result of the accident, the male driver, Mr. A (68), and two others, including a part-time worker at the restaurant, sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital, but their lives are not in danger. It was confirmed that Mr. A was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.


According to Korea Electric Power Corporation, the utility pole was damaged in the accident, causing a power outage affecting 875 households nearby. Of these, power was restored to 830 households about an hour later, at around 11:22 a.m.


Regarding this, the police stated, "We are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident."
