Pukyong National University Selected for Creative Convergence Engineering Talent Development Support Project College of Engineering, Pukyong National University.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Pukyong National University has been finally selected for the ‘2022 Creative Convergence Engineering Talent Cultivation Support Project’ organized by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.


This project has been operated since 2007 to support engineering colleges in establishing directions for engineering education innovation, developing and operating engineering education programs tailored to industry demands and university characteristics, thereby fostering creative engineering talents and enhancing the global competitiveness of engineering education.


In this project, which supports various industrial sectors, Pukyong National University was selected with the highest score (1st place) among the supported universities in the ‘IoT (Internet of Things) Home Appliances’ sector under the ‘Next-generation Life Style’ category, receiving approximately 1.3 billion KRW in project funding for up to six years.


With this selection, Pukyong National University plans to operate various programs for engineering talent cultivation targeting students of the College of Engineering and engineering-related departments through the Engineering Education Innovation Center (Director Minyoung Son), including ▲ industry-demand specialized education (IoT home appliances) ▲ capstone design ▲ corporate-linked programs ▲ entrepreneurship competency enhancement programs ▲ and humanities convergence programs.


Since being selected for the first phase (5 years) of this project in 2007, the university has been consecutively selected for the second phase (10 years) in 2012 and the third phase (6 years) this year, and has been recognized for excellence in engineering education by being named the Southeast Region Engineering Education Innovation Center University of the Year (Grand Prize) three times (2018, 2020, 2021).


Minyoung Son, Director of the Engineering Education Innovation Center, said, “With this project selection, we will strive to develop and operate various programs in the IoT home appliance industry sector to cultivate creative and convergent engineering talents, respond to future new industries, and nurture outstanding local talents.”
