Youth Startup Early-Stage Companies Preferred

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold the 1st Public Media Citizen Open Group Contest of 2022 from the 5th to May 6th to support small business owners and non-profit organizations.

This year, when selecting support targets, additional points will be given to early-stage youth startups among the companies applying for the contest to support youth entrepreneurship, and preferential selection will be planned for tie-breakers.

The contest targets include small businesses and small business owners whose corporate activities resonate with citizens and provide hope, as well as non-profit corporations and private organizations that contribute to public interest promotion through activities such as donations, sharing, and volunteer work. The total print media supported by the city includes 8,000 surfaces such as subway interior corners, street vending stands, and shoe repair stands, while video media includes about 110 units such as the Seoul City (main office) citizen bulletin board, subway station media boards, and city facility video equipment (DID).

Organizations selected through the contest will receive comprehensive advertising support from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, including design planning, printing, posting, video production, and broadcasting. In particular, professional and creative early-stage youth startups will be actively utilized in advertising production.

Choi Won-seok, Director of Citizen Communication Planning at Seoul City, said, “This can be a good opportunity for small business owners and non-profit organizations struggling with promotional costs,” adding, “Especially, we hope for many applications from early-stage youth startups seeking new opportunities amid difficult economic conditions due to COVID-19.”
