110 Patients at Risk of Complications Among Health Center Registered Patients
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, will support testing fees from the 4th to prevent complications in patients with hypertension and diabetes.
The target group consists of 110 chronic disease patients registered and managed at public health centers who are at risk of developing complications. Coupons will be issued so that patients can receive tests in advance.
Recipients can visit contracted medical institutions with the coupons received from the public health center to receive free testing.
The contracted medical institutions include 7 hospitals and clinics: Ryu Internal Medicine, Yang Internal Medicine, Namak Hana Internal Medicine, Namak Onnuri Internal Medicine, Kim Tae-won Internal Medicine, Seoul Eye Clinic, and Mokpo City Medical Center.
The test items include essential examinations for the prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, kidney diseases, and eye diseases, such as carotid ultrasound, microalbuminuria, glycated hemoglobin, electrocardiogram, nerve tests, blood tests, and ophthalmologic examinations.
Park Hong-geun, director of the public health center, said, “We will thoroughly provide continuous education and management for the prevention and control of hypertension and diabetes, which are precursor diseases of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, the leading cause of death in Korea from a single disease.”
