[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Reports have emerged that a Russian armored regiment commander, facing difficult realities, ultimately took an extreme step.

On the 26th (local time), the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced that the commander of the 13th Armored Regiment within the Russian Federation's 4th Tank Division, upon realizing that 9 out of 10 reserve tanks were restored but unusable, took his own life.

According to intelligence agencies, the Russian military attempted to repair broken tanks at the Krymovo airfield in Bryansk Oblast, about 35 km from the Ukrainian border, but could not due to a shortage of parts. Key components such as optical devices and electronic equipment used in the tanks had been stolen.

Ultimately, it was determined that only one out of the 10 dismantled tanks for repair in the 13th Armored Regiment was operational. Intelligence agencies analyzed that the Russian military's plan to reinforce its forces was effectively completely thwarted.

Meanwhile, as Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues for over a month, Russian generals are being killed one after another.

Previously, the Russian military lost six high-ranking officers including △ Andrey Sukoveski, commander of the 7th Airborne Division and major general of the 41st Combined Arms Army △ Vitaly Gerasimov, chief of staff of the 41st Combined Arms Army △ Andrey Kolesnikov, major general of the Eastern Military District △ Oleg Mityayev, commander of the 150th Motor Rifle Division △ Andrey Mordvichev, lieutenant general of the 8th Guards Army △ and Magomed Tusayev, general of the Chechen special forces.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense recently also announced that Russian Major General Yakov Rezantsev was killed near the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson.

The Washington Post (WP) reported, "Russian generals are dying at a rate unseen since World War II." The BBC reported, "The Russian military relies on insecure communication systems such as personal mobile phones and outdated radios," adding, "This makes it easier for the Ukrainian forces to locate high-ranking commanders."
