"Striving with Heavy Responsibility for the Development and Expansion of Taekwondo"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Kim Sang-man, a member of the Inje County Council, will become the first politician in Gangwon Province to serve as an External Cooperation Committee member of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation.
The Taekwondo Promotion Foundation announced on the 25th, "We have appointed Kim Sang-man, a member of the Inje County Council (8th term, first half chairman), to promote external cooperation and provide advisory roles for the development of Taekwondo, the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation, and Taekwondowon."
The foundation explained the reason for the appointment, stating, "Kim Sang-man has contributed to the revitalization of tourism, sports, and the economy in the Gangwon region alongside sports figures and affiliated organizations in Gangwon Province, which successfully hosted the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. We expect him to play a role in expanding the base and development of the national sport Taekwondo and opening a platform for cooperation across various sectors."
Kim, a re-elected council member, previously served as the chairman of the 8th Inje County Council during its first half. He was selected as the recipient of the 5th Gangwon Legislative Service Award in 2020, hosted by the Association of Urban and County Council Chairpersons. His contributions have been recognized for continuous efforts to improve the welfare of local residents through close communication, harmony, and dedication within the community, in addition to his legislative activities.
Kim said, "I am grateful to the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the development of the national sport Taekwondo. Although I feel a heavy responsibility as an External Cooperation Committee member, I will spare no effort to contribute to resolving current issues for the advancement of Taekwondo."
Earlier, on the 24th, the foundation held the 'External Cooperation Committee Appointment Ceremony' and the first meeting at the Taekwondowon Operation Center.
The External Cooperation Committee is composed of advisory members from various sectors to revitalize the national sport Taekwondo and will provide advisory roles for promoting external cooperation to expand and develop Taekwondo.
Eleven members will be active, including Chairman Min Sang-ki, former president of Konkuk University; Ko Bong-su, executive vice president of the Jeollabuk-do Taekwondo Association; Kim Sang-man, Inje County Council member; Bae Bong-su, external cooperation specialist of the Jogye Order General Affairs Office; and Jeon Je-won, vice president of the Gangwon Sports Council.
Oh Eung-hwan, chairman of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation, said, "By appointing experts from various fields as advisory members, we will actively cooperate with the committee members to enhance our foundation’s efforts and achievements in revitalizing the national sport Taekwondo."
