[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Sim Sang-jung, the Justice Party presidential candidate, pledged on the 2nd, "Women in their 50s and 60s are representative citizens who work the longest and the most," and promised to "support their independence and jobs for old age."

On this day, Sim visited a female owner of a Kalguksu (hand-cut noodle) restaurant and presented her with a business card and a plaque of appreciation, with the intention of giving business cards to women who have been called 'aunt,' 'mom,' or 'ajumma' (middle-aged woman).

Sim made these remarks after visiting a restaurant in the Kalguksu alley of Namdaemun Market in Jung-gu, Seoul, in the morning.

Sim said, "Women in their 50s and 60s often perform unpaid housework and caregiving labor at home without retirement, and also engage in low-wage, long-hour labor outside the home," adding, "We will make the lives and labor of middle-aged and elderly women shine."

Sim first pledged, "We will support the independence of women in their 50s and 60s," promising to provide jobs suited to the characteristics of this generation and to guarantee stable income for old age through a 'one person, one pension' policy in which all citizens receive a pension.

Sim also stated, "We will implement a health management system and a primary care physician system specialized for women in their 50s and 60s," announcing plans to introduce a primary care physician system for women in the 'wan-gyeong-gi' (menopausal period) to manage their health and to establish a system to prevent osteoporosis.

In addition, she promised to introduce a 'caregiver allowance' that provides compensation to women engaged in caregiving labor.
