[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Se-ryeong] The Department of Military Science at Dongmyung University held a Pre-Orientation for 36 successful candidates of the 2022 academic year early admission on the 11th.
Under the theme "The First Step for Your Dream, Dongmyung University Department of Military Science is with You," the orientation conveyed the department's vision, career roadmap, and preparation for the military officer selection exam, and the students were fitted with the department uniform.
The Department of Military Science at Dongmyung University was established in March 2014 as the only four-year university program in the Busan and Ulsan regions aimed at cultivating future security personnel, with all graduates commissioned as officers in the Army, Navy, or Marine Corps.
Upon admission to the Department of Military Science, students participate in the "From Halla to Baekdu" program aimed at fostering Do-ing (practical) talents, which includes climbing Halla Mountain, Jiri Mountain, Dokdo, and Baekdu Mountain according to their academic year.
Students can take daily English classes taught by native speakers, and drone education, a core technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution era, is provided, allowing them to obtain national certifications free of charge.
In August 2021, Dongmyung University became the first among military science departments nationwide to open a Drone Education Research Center and began drone education.
Sixteen students obtained national drone pilot licenses for ultralight flying devices, unmanned multicopters Class 1 and Class 3, and 28 students completed the drone manufacturing course.
Professor Na Seung-hak, head of the Department of Military Science and director of the Drone Education Research Center, said, "We have revised this year's curriculum to include related subjects such as NCW-C4I to adapt to rapidly changing defense weapon systems and will nurture talents needed in field units."
Incoming student Choi Jun-hyung said, "I enrolled at Dongmyung University aiming to become a professional soldier," adding, "I will prepare well for the officer selection exam and become a Marine Corps officer."
