Supporting Market Access by Discovering Venture and Startup Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Public Home Shopping (CEO Jo Seong-ho) announced on the 28th that its 'Win-Win Cooperation Policy Support Broadcast' has surpassed 2,000 cumulative episodes. The Win-Win Cooperation Support Broadcast is a project where Public Home Shopping collaborates with the government and local governments to support TV home shopping sales channels for excellent small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) products and agricultural, livestock, and fishery products.
According to Public Home Shopping, the Win-Win Cooperation Support Broadcast, which started in September 2015, has introduced more than 2,000 products through about 2,100 support broadcasts over approximately five years, and it expects to achieve 140 billion KRW in order value by this year.
The Win-Win Cooperation Policy Support Broadcast discovers products supported by local governments, government-funded institutions, and venture startups. Win-Win Cooperation products apply an average sales commission of about 8%. Some products have a 0% commission rate. Considering that the average commission for general products on Public Home Shopping is about 20%, this significantly reduces the burden.
This year, Public Home Shopping has actively supported sales channels for SMEs and farmers affected by COVID-19. They have carried out various projects including support programs due to the cancellation of local festivals, small business support projects, support for excellent women-owned businesses, support for outstanding agricultural products, and promotion of seafood consumption.
Lee Yoon-cheol, head of the Win-Win Cooperation Team, said, "As a public institution home shopping under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, we have faithfully played a strong sales channel role for our SMEs and agricultural, livestock, and fishery products, resulting in over 2,000 Win-Win Cooperation broadcasts." He added, "We will continue to actively discover and introduce excellent technology-based SME products and high-quality local specialties that consumers can trust and seek out."
